Huw Warren @60. As part of a series of gigs nationally to celebrate his 60th birthday, Welsh pianist Warren is presenting some of his previous projects with a new twist. Hermeto + celebrates the vibrant music of Brazilian master Hermeto Pascoal set alongside Huw’s original compositions. Expect a groove-heavy evening of exciting trio music.
Huw Warren pays tribute to the great Brazilian multi-instrumentalist composer Hermeto Pascoal. Perhaps best known in jazz circles for his work with Miles Davis on Live-Evil, Hermeto Pascoal has been a major force in Brazilian jazz for the last 50 years. For tonight's performance Huw is joined by his long-time collaborator the virtuoso bassist Dudley Phillips who along with Huw, Mark Lockheart and Martin France was a founder member of the highly rated Perfect Houseplants quartet in the 1990's. On Drums we have the excellent Dave Smith (Robert Plant, Cloudmakers, Mark Lockheart's Dreamers).
